Frequently asked questions
Pretty much everyone that steps into my studio says, "I'm not photogenic" or
"I don't like the way I look in photographs."
That's ok, I am here to coach you through the process. By the end of the session, we will have created some images that you can be proud of.
1
What do I wear for my headshot session?
Solids and neutral colors usually look best. If crazy stripes or colors are what you are known for then by all means bring that as well. I suggest simple necklines and sleeves. If you're not sure bring it anyway. We have time to make several clothing changes. I find that most people can use images that are more formal as well as some business casual looks as well.

For guys I suggest several shirt and tie combinations as well as a polo shirt or casual button down for a less formal look.

For women slacks / skirt and a blazer for a more business look. Your favorite dress and a more casual outfit. If you are in an industry that does casual Friday, then bring your favorite casual Friday outfit.

I suggest that you try on the clothes a few days before to make sure they still fit and are comfortable. Make sure everything zips or buttons and a quick iron if it is needed. The better your clothes feel to you the more comfortable you will be in front of the camera.

Hair & Makeup
For men I don't recommend anything special other than a fresh haircut a week or so beforehand and a fresh shave or trim of facial hair.

Women should style their hair as they would for a nice night out. The same with your makeup. Both should be simple and not distracting. If you're not sure put on your normal makeup and bring it with you. We can look at the first few shots and re-apply if you want it a little heavier.
Hydration is key to great shots. Both men and women can benefit for keeping their skin hydrated a few days before their sessions. Drink plenty of water and use a good moisturizer.
3
Retouching of Photos
When we retouch your photos we will remove blemishes, even out skin tones and brush out any fly away hairs. The editing we do in minimal. We want you to look like you, but better.
4
What kind of shots do you take.
Most headshots are taken from the waist up. We take shots in a variety of poses so that you have several looks to choose from. We also take a few casual or lifestyle shots. These may be 3/4 or full body shots. At the end of the session, you will have a wide variety of shots to choose from. If you are looking for something special just let us know.
