Headshots shouldn't be painful!

Here are a few tips to make your next head shot session a breeze.

Which is your best side?

That might not be something you have ever thought about. According to several studies, most people are more emotionally expressive on their left side.

Clothing choices matter.

Choose solid colors that complement your skin tones and colors you like. No crazy patterns, you want the focus on your face not your clothing. Try on all the clothing you bring to a session. If you haven’t worn it in a while you want to make sure it still fits, and all buttons and zippers are working.

Find out what color backgrounds the photographer offers. Typically, dark color clothing looks best on lighter backgrounds and vice versa. If you want something more dramatic let's talk. Reds, Blacks, and Whites can make for dramatic photos. If you want something that matches your business, we can create special shots or do a session at your location.

Hair and Makeup

For women, style your hair like you are going out for the evening or presenting to the board. Friendly and super professional are two different looks. Bring some hairspray to tame the flyways. Makeup should be put on like you normally would for the office. You don’t want to look too made up. Bring it with you, we can always add more if you want.

For men a haircut that is about a week old and a fresh “shave” will do. Trim beards and mustaches so they are neat and tidy.

Headshots sessions can be fun and easy. We will coach you through the entire process, so we make sure to get your best side!
